Overview: Kia Forte

The 2017 Kia Forte is available in three different body styles, based upon how much cargo capacity you’d like: the coupe, the sedan, or the hatchback. Each comes with a standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower, or you can opt for the more powerful 2.0L 4-cylinder that produces 164 horsepower. The hatchback model can be had with an available 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower.

All engines come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, or you can opt for a 6-speed automatic. The base engine achieves an EPA-estimated 26 city/37 highway MPG with the manual transmission.

With the automatic, you’ll get 29 city/38 highway MPG, which is well above average for the class. The Forte also comes standard with an adjustable steering system, so you can choose between three driving modes: Standard, Sport, and Comfort.

Interior Features

The size of the Forte’s interior depends greatly upon which body style you choose. In the sedan, you’ll find front headroom of 39.1 inches and 42.2 inches of legroom. Back seat passengers will have 37.3 inches of headroom and 35.9 inches of legroom, making all seats in the car comfortable for adults, even on a long road trip.

Cloth upholstery and a manually adjustable driver’s seat come standard in all models. Available options include leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, and a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat.

2017 Kia Forte Cargo Capacity 

The sedan offers a trunk measuring 14.9 ft3, but if you need larger and more versatile cargo space, you’ll want to opt for the hatchback body style. The hatchback offers 23.2 ft3 of cargo space behind the back seats, but you can also fold the back seats forward for a total of 56.4 ft3 of cargo capacity.

Tech Features

Standard tech features include Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free phone calls, satellite radio for access to hundreds of channels of music and entertainment, and a USB port for charging.
