Under the Hood: Uncovering Power and Performance

One area that demands immediate inspection of the Kia Seltos is the powertrain it has working under the hood. Here, you’ll find a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, which is seamlessly distributed by an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The Intelligent Variable Transmission is similar in ways to an automatic transmission but different in others. It operates autonomously, making it an automatic, but instead of using set gear ratios, it continuously looks for ideal gear ratios. This helps the Kia SUV optimize its performance overall, but especially helps in relation to fuel economy. It allowed the Seltos to earn an impressive EPA-estimated 29 city and 35 highway MPG.¹

The Kia further allows for premium fuel efficiency figures via its standard Idle Stop and Go system. This will shut down your engine at complete stops so you can preserve fuel when not in motion. Then, when you’re ready to resume driving, the engine will kick back on, and you’ll be ready to go.

Interior: Measuring Space and Dimensions

Inside, the Kia Seltos will delight with its dimensions. You’ll have 99.6 cubic feet of passenger volume in the cabin, allowing you to seat five with ease. Plus, you’ll also have 26.6 cubic feet of cargo volume to store bags, luggage, and whatever else you may need.

The Seltos also comes with a 60/40 split-folding second row of seats. Using this, you can fold either part of the back row or the entire row to create up to a maximum of 62.8 cubic feet of cargo volume if you need to store larger items.
