The History of the Covered Bridges

Community Spotlight: Parke County Covered BridgesThere are many reasons why Parke County can boast having more covered bridges than any other county in the United States. First, this area is home to numerous streams and creeks where roadways needed to be built over. Parke County also had plenty of natural resources and designers such as Joseph A. Britton and Joseph J. Daniels who helped to construct these attractions.

All 31 covered bridges in the area boast their own unique history and you can spend the day in their rustic, charming settings and the quaint towns surrounding them.

The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival
