What Is a Trim Level?

At our dealership, we like to think of a trim level as a variation on a theme. Every trim level gives you a slightly different version of the Kia Optima, starting with the base-level trim: the Optima LX. Every trim level builds from there, adding something a little new with each configuration.

The trim levels of the 2020 Optima are:

• S
• Special Edition
• EX
• EX Premium
• SX

By offering six trims, this model truly gives you the ability to choose the Kia sedan that fits your lifestyle best.

Kia Optima LX Trim: Standard Features

The Optima LX is the base-level trim of this Kia sedan and it comes with all the standard features. That includes the standard 2.4L I-4 engine that delivers an exciting 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. This kind of power is sure to bring an extra dose of adrenaline to your routine commutes. The 2.4L engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Inside the cabin, this sedan comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display and the following connectivity features:

• Bluetooth® Wireless Technology Hands-Free Connectivity
• Siri® Eyes Free

It also has a Rear-Camera Display that helps you back up more accurately by providing a live video feed of the area directly behind your Kia vehicle while in reverse. This is just one of many standard smart safety systems you get with this trim. Others include Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and more.

Optima S Trim: Sporty Style

With the Kia Optima S trim level, you get even more sporty style features that you’re sure to notice before you even take the wheel. For instance, it replaces the standard Matte Gray front grille with a Gloss Black one that adds an extra level of refinement to the exterior. It also has a rear spoiler that helps you cut through wind resistance, and it takes a sportier stance with the addition of 18-inch alloy wheels.

The exterior gets smarter with this trim level, too, as you can tell from the Smart Welcome and Smart Trunk™ features. The Smart Trunk™ opens automatically when you stand behind your Optima with the key fob in your pocket or bag. That means you don’t need to put down or juggle what you’re holding to open the trunk.

Inside the cabin, the Sport Black cloth-trimmed seats include leatherette bolsters to keep you firmly in place, even during tight cornering. Meanwhile, the Smart Key with Push-Button Start feature means that you can start the engine by simply pressing a button on your dashboard.

EX Premium Trim: Efficient Engine & Premium Features

With the EX Premium trim, you’ll enjoy the same efficient powertrain as the EX trim, along with several upgrades to the technology inside the cabin.

For example, this trim comes with the Voice-Command Navigation System. It’s a fully integrated navigation system that provides turn-by-turn directions to your destination. Plus, with the voice-command feature, you’re able to simply input a destination while keeping your hands on the wheel.

This trim also gets the Harman Kardon® QuantumLogic™ Premium Surround Sound system with Clari-Fi™ music restoration technology. This 630-watt system strategically places 10 speakers around the cabin to create a surround sound-like experience.

To top it off, the EX Premium trim comes with ventilated front seats that can cool those leather seats off quickly on a hot summer afternoon.

SX Trim Level of the Kia Optima: Sporty Accents & Engines

Finally, we have the SX trim. This equips your Kia Optima with even sportier features, like Sport leather seat trim, a Sport steering wheel, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It also has a Satin Chrome accent trim that really makes the interior pop.

You’ll get an engine upgrade with this trim too. This 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine is the most energetic yet, with the following specs:

• 245 horsepower
• 260 lb-ft of torque
• 6-speed automatic transmission

From the outside, you can see just how active this sedan is. It comes with Sport Black side sills and a Sport front grille in Gloss Black that helps to improve air flow and tame that powerful engine. At your sedan’s tail, you’ll see a Sport Black rear spoiler that improves aerodynamics while also bumping up the style.
