The 2022 Kia Seltos and the 2022 Hyundai Kona fit the bill, but which one should you buy? Leave it to Andy Mohr Kia. We’ve created a comparison to show you which one exceeds the other.
Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Kona Trim Levels
When you want variety and versatility, look to the Kia SUV. Within its lineup, you’ll discover five diverse trims. They include LX, S, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo.
If you’re reviewing the Hyundai Kona traits, you’ll notice only four trim levels. SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited make up the trims for this car.
Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Kona Interior
When it comes to differences, you may not spot them head-on. For the front driver’s seat, you’ll notice differences like the fact that the Kia Seltos offers an available 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Two-way power lumbar support accompanies this setup. It can be upholstered with sustainable and vegan friendly SynTex material that feels like leather.
For Hyundai Kona drivers, your most premium driver’s seat only comes with power lumbar support and eight ways to adjust it. Upgraded leather trim furnishes the available driver’s seat.
Two types of steering wheels can be used in the Kia Seltos. Choose the standard wheel or a sporty flat-bottomed version. Both can be wrapped in leather if you want. The Hyundai offers your standard steering wheel.
The Kia vehicle also provides more space than the Hyundai. Although they come close in many individual dimensions, you’ll still see that the Kia Seltos outshines the Kona.
Dimensions |
Kia Seltos |
Hyundai Kona |
Headroom |
40/38.4 inches |
39.6/37.8 inches |
Hip Room |
53.5/52.8 inches |
53.3/52.2 inches |
Shoulder Room |
55.5/54.7 inches |
55.5/54.5 inches |
But there’s a great difference when you’re sitting in the back. With the Kia, you’ll find 38 inches of legroom. If you’re sitting in a rear seat of the Hyundai, it only reaches 35.2.
After you’ve gone grocery shopping or plan to go on vacation, you’ll want a lot of space in the trunk. The Kia Seltos provides 26.6 cubic feet to start with and the possibility of 62.8 cubic feet with back seats folded down.
You’ll only spot 19.2 cubic feet with the Hyundai seats in the upright position. It still doesn’t come close even when you fold the rear seats down. It expands to 45.8 cubic feet of maximum space.
Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Kona Safety
Look very closely when you review the safety systems. Plenty of systems match each other with their functionality and availability.
For protection in front, each vehicle sports Forward Collision Avoidance Assist. While both offer Pedestrian Detection, the Kia upgrades that to cover cyclist detection as well. The Hyundai does not have this at all.
In some cases, both cars do have a feature, but the availability differs. For example, the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Kona offer High Beam Assist. This prevents you from blinding another driver by dimming the headlights when another car approaches. The Kia SUV gives these to you standard while the Hyundai considers them an option.
