WHICH IS SAFER: KIA SORENTO OR HYUNDAI SANTA FE?

2022 Kia Sorento vs Hyundai Santa Fe

If you want to discuss safety, the Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa Fe have a lot of good things to talk about.

Both models feature Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist technology to help keep your steering steady, so your ride stays centered in your lane. These features will also alert you, if you begin to drift out of your respective lane on the highway. While also providing safety, this system can be of use during long road trips.

Another great feature on both the Sorento and the Santa Fe is an available Park Distance Warning. This feature detects objects in front and behind you when you’re moving at low speeds. If you come too close to another car or object, this system will provide you with an audible alert that beeps faster as you get closer.

One safety feature you’ll only find on the Kia Sorento, however, is Intelligent Speed Limit Assist. This system keeps you aware of the speed limit of the road you’re on. It can also act as a speed limiter to help you drive at a safe speed.

IS THE KIA SORENTO OR THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE MORE COMFORTABLE?

The Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa Fe both come fully equipped with all sorts of features that help to add convenience and comfort to your daily drive. These models both offer infotainment systems that are designed to keep you informed at all times, with easy access to wireless phone connectivity to stream music with ease.

In order to help you get settled in for a longer drive, the Hyundai Santa Fe is designed with an available 8-way power adjustable driver seat. You can use this feature to easily articulate the seat into just the right position to suit your preferences.

For enhanced customization options, the Kia Sorento offers much more. It comes standard with a 14-Way Power-Adjustable Driver’s Seat, with 2-Way Power Lumbar Support. This feature provides you with excellent customization, so you can easily find the position that best suits your back.

IS THE KIA SORENTO OR THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE BIGGER?

2022 Kia Sorento vs Hyundai Santa Fe

One of the best parts of driving a midsize model is all the cabin space you’ll have inside. The Kia Sorento provides plenty of space in its large cabin, with three rows of seats for seven people. You’ll only be able to seat up to five people inside the Hyundai Santa Fe, however, in its two rows of seats.

What these models have in common is foldable rear seats that let you expand the cargo volume as you see fit. The Kia Sorento provides a cargo volume of 12.6 cubic feet behind the third row of seats that expands to 45 cubic feet when you fold down the third row of seats. If you fold down the second row of seats, too, you’ll bring the cargo volume all the way up to 75.5 cubic feet of space behind the first row.

As for the Hyundai Santa Fe, you’ll still have a solid storage area, with a cargo volume of 36.4 cubic feet behind the second row of seats. When you fold down the rear seats, you’ll be working with a cargo volume of 72.1 cubic feet behind the first row of seats.

Overall, if you’re looking to haul lots of cargo, the Kia Sorento is the better choice for you.

WHICH IS MORE POWERFUL: KIA SORENTO OR HYUNDAI SANTA FE?

As for performance, you’ll be in for a treat, with both the Sorento and the Santa Fe. The most powerful motor both models offer is the available 2.5L Turbo engine, which delivers up to 281 horsepower. With the force of this engine, you’ll be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped, so you can easily bring along a small trailer.

When it comes to gas mileage and fuel capacity, the Kia Sorento comes out slightly ahead. When equipped with all-wheel drive, the Sorento can provide up to an EPA-estimated 22 city/27 hwy/24 combined MPG. The Santa Fe, when similarly equipped, delivers up to 22 city/25 hwy/24 combined MPG.*

While having only a slight lead in terms of mileage, the Sorento also travels farther with a smaller tank. It has a fuel capacity of 17.7 gallons compared to the 18.8-gallon tank in the Santa Fe.

KIA SORENTO OR HYUNDAI SANTA FE: WHICH IS BETTER FOR OFF-ROAD?

You’ll enjoy quite a lot of control while driving through more rugged terrain or even along low-traction surfaces. Both the Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa Fe feature available all-wheel drive drivetrains. These systems send torque to all four wheels to improve your handling when you have to drive through snow, mud, or other adverse conditions.

Once again, though, the Kia Sorento takes things a bit further, with the addition of an available Center Locking Differential. This feature helps to keep the front and back wheels spinning at the same speed for much more control when you need to drive over uneven terrain.

If you want to enjoy complete peace of mind when taking your trips off the beaten path, the Kia Sorento is the choice for you.
