Airbag Warning Light

Kia Dashboard Symbol

Starting on the left-hand side of your dashboard instrument cluster, you’ll see an image that shows the side view of a person sitting down. There will be a large circle just in front of the seated person. This circle represents an airbag and the light indicates that there is a problem with the SRS airbag system.

Seatbelt Warning Light

Kia Dashboard Symbol

Just above the Air Bag Warning Light, you’ll see a similar image, this time with the forward facing view of someone sitting in a chair with a seatbelt strapped across them. This indicates when the driver’s seatbelt is not fastened.

Parking Brake & Brake Fluid

Kia Dashboard Symbol

To the right of the Air Bag Warning Light, you’ll see a light with the word BRAKE, in all capital letters, with two circles above the text. There will be an exclamation point (!) in one circle and a capital (P) in the other. This light is illuminated whenever the parking brake is on. If it remains on after you disengage the parking brake, it likely means that your car is low on brake fluid.

Charging System Warning Light

Kia Dashboard Symbol

Next to the Brake Fluid Warning Light, there’s a square light that looks like the car’s battery with a plus (+) and minus (-) symbol on it. This is the Charging System Warning Light. It usually means that there’s a malfunction with the alternator or, if you’re driving the Kia Soul Hybrid, the electrical charging system.

Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light

Kia Dashboard Symbol

Underneath the Charging System light, you’ll see a light with an icon that looks like an oil can with a single drop coming out of it. That’s the Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light and it means that your oil pressure is low. This occurs when your car needs oil either because your levels are low or because it’s overdue for an oil change.

Electronic Stability Control Light

Kia Dashboard Symbol

Moving to the right-hand side of your instrument cluster, you’ll see a light with a car and some squiggly lines below it. When this light is on it means that your Electronic Stability Control (ESC) has malfunctioned.
It’s important to note that right next to this light, is an almost identical one that has the word OFF on it. This light only comes on when you manually deactivate your ESC by pressing the ESC OFF button.

Anti-Lock Brake System

Kia Anti Lock Brake System

To the right of the ESC lights, is a circle bordered by parenthesis. Inside the circle are the letters ABS. This means there’s a malfunction with your anti-lock brake system. Your regular brakes will still be functional but will not have the full functionality of the anti-lock brake system.

Fuel Cap Open Warning Indicator

A few inches above the ABS light, you’ll see the cross section of a car with a piece missing and what looks like a cork about the fill the missing piece. This is simply letting you know that your gas cap is not tightened securely.
