Kia Soul Exterior Dimensions

If you commute into Indianapolis every morning, then you know that parking can be a bit of a challenge. So, you need an SUV that’s small enough to fit into a tight on-street parking spot or one that’s nimble enough to weave through city traffic.

kia soul height

That’s exactly what you’ll get with the 2021 Kia Soul, as you can tell from the exterior dimensions:

  • Wheelbase: 102.4 inches
  • Length: 165.2 inches
  • Width: 70.9 inches
  • Height: 63 inches
  • Ground clearance: 6.7 inches

For comparison, a midsize Kia sedan tends to have a wheelbase around 110.4 inches and a length of around 191.1 inches. With its smaller measurements, the Soul can be just as easy to maneuver through the city as you’d expect a midsize sedan to be.

However, a midsize Kia sedan also has a ground clearance of around 5.3 inches. The Kia Soul, on the other hand, has a ground clearance of 6.7 inches. That’s 1.4 inches higher than a sedan, which is where the true benefit of an SUV comes in. With a Kia SUV like the Soul, you’re situated up higher in the driver’s seat, giving you a clearer view over many models ahead of you on the road.

Curb Weight of the Kia Soul

Before we move inside the cabin, let’s talk quickly about the Kia Soul curb weight. This measurement will vary based on your transmission:

kia soul length
  • 6-speed manual transmission: 2,802 pounds
  • Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT): 2,844 pounds
  • 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT): 3,036 pounds

As you can see, the IVT gives your Soul an extra 42 pounds in curb weight, and the DCT bumps you up 234 pounds over the manual transmission. This may affect your fuel economy, since heavier models tend to have a lower MPG. However, the smart shifting of the IVT and the DCT tend to offset many efficiency differences you may notice based on curb weight.

This difference in curb weight can affect your overall payload, though. So, that’s important to pay attention to when you’re thinking about what you’re going to be loading into the cargo area.

Kia Soul Cargo Dimensions

suv trunk dimensions

Speaking of the cargo area, this SUV has a spacious one. Take a look:

  • Cargo volume: 62.1 cubic feet
  • Trunk volume: 24.2 cubic feet

The Kia Soul is a 2-row SUV, so it gives you two different ways to carry cargo. If your Kia car is full of passengers, keep the rear seats upright. You’ll still have 24.2 cubic feet of trunk space to work with. That’s almost double the standard trunk space for a sedan, and more than enough room for groceries, dance bags, and baseball bats.

If you need even more space, fold the rear seats down flat. This gives you 62.1 cubic feet of total cargo volume. Certain trim levels also include a cargo cover that can shield your more valuable items from curious eyes. So, go ahead and load up for that cross-country road trip. No one will be able to tell what’s hiding in your trunk.

Plus, an available 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area allows you to power your devices during breaks at the rest stop.

Interior Dimensions: Passenger Space in the Kia Soul

As we already mentioned, the Kia Soul is a 2-row SUV, so it has enough seating for up to five people, including the driver. That’s enough room for you and four passengers. Get a glimpse of the interior dimensions below:

2021 Kia Soul Dimensions Avon IN
  • Passenger volume: 102.2 cubic feet
  • Headroom (front/rear): 39.4/39.5 inches
  • Legroom (front/rear): 41.1/38.8 inches
  • Hip room (front/rear): 53.5/52.8 inches

Thanks to its shape, the Kia Soul can provide nearly consistent headroom measurements between the first and second row. This is because the roof of the Kia Soul doesn’t slope like it does on many other SUVs. Instead, the roof height stays steady from front to back.

Note that your front headroom dimensions will decrease ever so slightly if you opt for the available sunroof, but you’ll hardly notice when you open that pane and let in all that fresh air and natural sunlight.

Also, with the available 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, you’ll be able to find the perfect seat setting for comfort and visibility. Speaking of comfort, the available 2-way power lumbar support in the driver’s seat helps to reduce fatigue on your lower back during long drives.

Infotainment System Dimensions

The infotainment system is the final set of dimensions to talk about with the Kia Soul. With this SUV, you’ll have your choice between two different infotainment systems depending on your trim level, and each system has its own dimensions:

2021 Kia Soul Dimensions Avon IN
  • Standard 7-inch display
  • Available 10.25-inch display

Both displays are touchscreens and compatible with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity. They also both feature a rearview camera that gives you a clearer look at the area behind you when you’re in reverse.

The 7-inch touchscreen comes standard on the LX, S, GT-Line, and X-Line trim levels. With the EX and Turbo trims, you’ll get the 10.25-inch display.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen includes additional features, like UVO link voice-recognition technology. These voice-command capabilities extend into the integrated navigation system, which relays real-time highway conditions from SiriusXM® Traffic.
