1. Are You Ready to Let Go?

2. Prepare for Your Inspection

Once you’ve decided you’re ready to move on, you’ll want to examine your on-road friend for any potential damages or excess mileage.

Check your odometer to see if you’ve exceeded the mileage limits you agreed upon in your lease. Did you drive back-and-forth to Mom’s house every week, or cross the country to help your best friend move? If you’ve put on many more miles than you intended, you might want to consider buying out your lease.

You’ll also want to give your model the once-over to identify any damage. It might be a good idea to do this while you still have time left in your lease, so you can fix cosmetic damages like scratches or dents. Getting these repairs done before the lease return will potentially save you from added fees.
